Gene Autry

Our founder, Papa Jack became friends with Gene Autry back in the early years. Papa recalled doing business with Gene when he ran a store in Montana. One day, Gene called Papa and said hold his order until he returned from a trip to audition in California. So much for the day job - the rest is history. In later years we continued our relationship with the Autry Museum in Los Angeles. They exhibit our historic designs and have the shirts we made for Brokeback Mountain on permanent display. Their books on Western fashion include Rockmount, and they collaborated with me when researching my book Western Shirts: A Classic American Fashion. We also team up with them on special designs. They carry Rockmount in the museum store. As a company with a lot of history, we are very gratified both to be in many museum collections and to produce product they sell, in support of their mission. Nicknamed the "Singing Cowboy," Gene Autry helped popularize Western culture as a musician, songwriter, actor and rodeo performer since the 1930s. He's pictured in a vintage Rockmount denim shirt.
